Fluffy things : my pussy cats, yarn for my knitting...

why starting a blog ?

So this is my first entry to my blog! and I am not at all sure how to start it... I guess that there are several questions I should answer before starting : why a blog? what should it be about ? how often will I write? why would anyone be interested in reading it ? should it be in english or in french, etc....

but rather than starting a long (and probably boring) dissertation about all this, I decided that I should briefly introduce myself: I was born in Paris and always lived there until 1993 when my husband (who happens to be british, from Manchester) and I were given the opportunity to be transferred to the Geneva office of the british company we used to work for. We jumped on the occasion as we had been thinking for a while that we would like to move somewhere else and Geneva offered many advantages (quality of life, a good combination of life in the countryside while still being a city with international angle, and not being too far away from Paris... in case I feel homesick). And we have never regretted the move : we live on the french side and had our house built in the countryside (about 20kms from Geneva) with a beautiful view on the mountains (though I cannot see the Mont-Blanc from my garden... which was a disappointment as one of my hopes when we were looking for a piece of land to buy). My 2 big passions in life (except the husband, I should say, in case he ever reads this!) are my cats (and cats in general) and knitting/crochetting.  So there will most probably be many lines written on any of these 2 topics in this blog... so if you don't like cats or think that knitting is 'ringard' (not sure what the word in english is. something like 'unfashionable' but in slang), I suggest that you move to another blog!

My cats : there's Vindaloo (or Vindy) who is a male burmese with the most beautiful blue eyes and Chapathy (or Chacha or Chap) who is a female mix of everything (tortoise colours, long hair). Very differerent characters : Vindy tends to be grumpy most of the time and is almost always 1 meter away from me (very possessive of me) while Chap seems always cheerful, loves playing, catching mice or lezards, running from the garden to the house back and forth ... and playing with my yarn when I knit!

I am fascinated by cats and have never lived without a cat since my sister decided to adopt our first cat, called him 'Che' (she already was a strong believer in the international revolution), and shortly afterwards deciPhoto_0056ded that she was not that interested in a cat... which was my luck as Che stayed with me for the rest of his life.

I cannot imagine my house without the beauty that cats bring in : they're beautiful, full of grace, smart, fun to watch and play with. I like their way to come and take from you love and hugs when they have decided that they want it.

I realise that this is becoming a long intro !!! I'll stop for now and will continue later today ...

1st attempt to publish ....

Well... That's it... I have been thinking about opening my blog for very long and never got round to it. I guess a combination of factors stopped me : from the most practical ones such as 'how is it working' 'how long is it going to take', etc.... to the more personal (and phiylosophical!!!) ones such as 'who would be interested in reading something about me, my life is far from being that interesting'!

So this is very much a first attempt. I have to try the 'practical' bits first ... and iDSC02871f I am happy with what it looks like, I'll start dealing with the 'philosophical' aspects then!

Let's see what it looks like.... and next time, I'll provide more substance to it... if there is a 2nd time, that it!
